What a difference attitude makes

So, we are now in the full swing of wedding season which means we really just shoot and edit for the next 9 months or so. It can be a little hectic and crazy but there is nothing that I would rather be doing. So, that leads me to this post, the difference that Attitude can take on the day of a wedding. This past month, I was lucky enough to be involved in some truly beautiful and amazing events. However one really stood out as being key to having a successful day. It was Memorial day weekend and here in DC that means Rolling Thunder. For those of you not familiar with this, we are taken over by motorcycles for a couple of days. It is truly an amazing sight and sound. However, on Sunday, they close down major streets in DC for the parade, which, leads me to my story.

The wedding that day was at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center, which is absolutely a beautiful place, and one of my favorite venues to photograph. However, little did any of us know that because of the street closings, my bride was going to spend almost 3 hours in her limo trying to get to the venue. Now, this could have totally ruined what was supposed to be a very special day. I will say, that when she finally arrived, well, she was definitely frazzled. However, she and her fiance chose to embrace what this day meant to them and their guests, and found a way to put everything that had transpired that day behind them and have a great event. It was one of the most beautiful and love filled events of the year. The couple had a wonderful time; the guests had a great time; and her pictures look fantastic.

Weddings are complicated, emotion filled days. So much goes into planning and preparation that they are always filled with some level of stress. Those of us that go to 50 plus weddings a year know that something always comes up. Sometimes it is minor, and sometimes, as in this case, it is major. How you choose to deal with it is what really makes the difference. This couple embraced what this day meant to them and had an amazing event that will surely make for great story telling on their anniversaries. Attitude truly makes the difference in everything we do in life!
