Happy New Year

I would like to wish all of our past and present Brides a wonderful New Year. 2006 was a fantastic time for us and we are very excited about 2007. We will be taking a couple of weeks off in the first part of January to recover and reflect on what was an absolutely fantastic 2006 wedding season. When we get back in action, check back on the site for updates to our 2007 happenings along with great suggestions on how to make your wedding day be all that more memorable! Happy New Year from the Glenn Barnett Photography Team.

Where did the year go?

So, here we are on the 8th of December, and I am wondering where the year went, and specifically the last 4 months. Time does fly when you are having fun, and this was such a great year. I was honored to be a part of so many wonderful weddings and events this year. It is very humbling to know that I/we get to document such a special and joyous occasion and that our images will be a part of each and every families history. Thank you for allowing me to a part of your special day!

This year was one of many great changes for my Studio. We moved into a new place in Reston; added full time staff including Jennifer and Brittany; and added a number of additional associate photographers to our staff of talented and committed photographers.

Many of you will know Jennifer as she has been my primary assistant since November of 05. Jennifer has proven to be invaluable on all fronts and her progression as a wedding photographer has been nothing short of amazing. Jennifer will be assisting me some in 2007 but her main contribution will now be as my Sr Associate photographer. As a Sr. Associate Jen will be shooting weddings on her own for me in connection with a Jr. Associate. For those of you lucky enough to book Jen, you are in for a treat. Her ability to capture beautiful images with her own unique style has numerous wedding planners calling asking specifically for her.

Brittany joined us in the early fall with a background in the Arts. Her primary role is to help us create beautiful albums for all of our clients. She will also be taking over numerous other studio responsiblities and is one of the prime points of contacts for couples during the wedding planning process. Brittany has also shown great interest in advancing her photgraphic skills, so don't be surprised if she shows up as a third photographer for us at key events.

In the area of accomplishments and recognition there are a number of items that I am very proud of. First, we continue our trend of getting beautiful images into the top local and national wedding publications. From the Knot to Engaged and all the way to the very prestigious invitation to join Grace Ormonde Wedding style, our images are being displayed and recognized for the way in wich they capture the joy and emotion of such special moments. The invitation to join Grace Ormonde Wedding Style is one of the single biggest accomplishments that I could have personally achieved. This publication is recognized as one of the truly elite wedding magazines and as such, only the top wedding photographers in the country are invited to join. I am very excited about participating the 2007-2008 issues. Also, the upcoming issue of Engaged magazine will feature one of our most beautiful weddings of the year. Paula and Alex were married last spring and with the guidance of Katie Martin (Elegance and Simplicity), they put on truly a beautiful event. The love and passion that they share for one another comes through in every single image that we captured. Look for that on the news stands in early 2007 where I will personally be listed as one of the lead contributors.

On the technology front we have some very exciting addtions for 2007. First we will begin offering IPOD videos to all of our clients. These videos are a great way for couples to share their images with family and friends both near and far. An update to our website in early 2007 will allow couples to publish their videos so that others may download them to their own IPOD. Second, we will begin rolling out a new feature that will enable us to display your wedding images at your reception. This will be a selection of images from the entire day and will be shown on 24" displays or existing venue A/V equipment. It is a very nice way to get everyone excited about what we have already captured! Lastly, we will begin trialing a new Video Lite service. This video service is intended to augment our beautiful still photography but in no way compete with full videographer services. We are actively looking for couples willing to be testers for us, so don't forget to ask us about this new and exciting feature.

For those of you that have not met with us yet, I encourage you to set up consultations as soon as possible. The number of open dates for 2007 is dwindling rapidly and we will soon begin booking for 2008. As a reminder, you have a number of options with us that all have one thing in common. An endearing comittment to capturing your day as it unfolds with beautiful images and customer service that is second to none.

Happy Holidays,

Glenn
